Amidst NLC Strike, The Naira Resurrects Against The Dollar

Despite the industrial action embarked on by the labour, the Nigerian current, the Naira today gains further strength against the US dollar at the black market, NAN reports.

The Naira was traded between N340 and N341 to a dollar at the close of trading, against N345 it exchanged on Monday.

The Pound Sterling and the Euro also traded between N480 and N488 and N380, N385 against the naira, respectively.

Meanwhile the official Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rate remained at N197 to the dollar.

Traders at the market told NAN that trading at the market went undisturbed by the industrial action called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). (NAN)

Contact Mr Micheal adeyomo on(08147940785)BUA Group - Cement industry news Nigeria: bua cement company okpella Edo State Nigeria, has declared an older to sell cement out in Nigeria with a factory price, BUA Slash Price Of Cement N1,700 To N1,000 FOR EACH BAG, we deliver 50bags to 900bags an above.
According to media reports, the chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, announcing the 40 per cent price cut, said the reduction in the cost of cement was necessary so that more Nigerians can have access to the product and realise their dream of owning houses of their own.
“It is against this background that I commend Alhaji Aliko Dangote for this patriotic initiative which is long overdue. What Alhaji Dangote has done today is significant. I am very pleased about it because it would make the cost of the product more easily affordable to Nigerians. With this price reduction, more consumers will be able to buy the product and subsequently drive up demand and in turn increase market share for industry players,” the group’s chairman was quoted as saying.
Alhaji Rabiu further urged all cement producers to emulate Dangote and bring down the cost of cement stating that “there is absolutely no reason for a bag of cement to cost so much.”
He stressed that there was no reason for the price of cement to exceed N1,000 per bag, bearing in mind the massive success of the backward integration policy implemented 12 years ago, in which tens of billions of dollars were directly and indirectly injected into the Nigerian cement industry with Dangote Cement accounting for the larger share of the contribution.
