PDP 'Chiefs' Trade Blame Game As Jonathan Minister Returns N46m Dasuki $15b Arms Fund

Some Peoples Democratic Party Chieftains involved in the sharing N950 million from arms fund handled by former Special Adviser on Security, Sambo Dasuki have been trading blame games on each other, as a report according Daily Trust suggests that former Foreign Affair Minister, Aminu Bashir Wali has refunded the sum of  N46  million from the slush fund.

Both  former foreign affairs minister, Aminu Bashir Wali and former Education Minuster, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau have denied being beneficiaries of the slush funds.

Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, former Minister of Education, whom house Wali had confessed to have shared the N950 million  has said that the former foreign affairs minister, Aminu Bashir Wali begged him to share the N950m in his residence. He said he did not get a dime out of the N950 million.

Earlier, the former Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Wali admitted receiving the campaign funds as the head of a seven-man committee for Kano State.

The committee also included former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau; Senators Bashir Lado and Bello Hayathou of the Seventh Senate; Kano State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Rabi’u Dansharu and Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Coordinator, Mansur Ahmad. He, however, insisted that the money was taken to Shekarau’s house where it was shared. 

Wali said he did not benefit personally from the campaign funds. The former minister stated that he only collected the money from Abuja because he was the most senior in the committee

But Shekarau, who spoke through his media aide, Malam Ghali Sadiq, said he did not see the money in question when it was brought to his residence.

"Wali approached me on the day he collected the money and said because of security he wanted to share the N950m in my residence and I obliged.

"He brought the money to my house around 2am. I was at my room upstairs when they came in and I remained there up till the time they finished the sharing. Wali and some other party members shared the money according to the directives given to them. So I did not even see the money with my eyes," he recalled.

The former governor also confirmed the receipt of EFCC's invitation, saying as a witness, he will go to the commission and narrate all he knew about the money.

Asked whether the former education minister had collected his share out of the N950m, Sadiq said "Malam Shekarau did not tell me anything about that, all he said is that he will honor the EFCC's invitation."

However, he said the former minister was in Lagos for another engagement but he assured  that he will go to EFCC.

On the contrary, report according to Daily Trust suggests that Wali has returned N45m to the commission, a source at the EFCC Kano Zonal Office  said
