The Abuja Federal high court premises was thrown at chaos Monday morning as security details attached to the office of the Senate President Bukola Saraki assaulted journalists covering the trial.
Trouble started when Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy, arrived the court with a retinue of security operatives, who stationed themselves at the entrance of court and threatened to shoot photojournalists and television cameramen.
The camera operators and photojournalists maintained that they wanted to take cutaway clips to enable them to establish their story before the start of the court sitting. The security aides rejected the explanation of the journalists and attacked them with gun butts.
