The coach of high - flying Enugu Rangers has reiterated the desire of the team to break the long-running and trophy-less jinx of the team in the present season.

Speaking during a telephone interview, Imama Amapakabo was upbeat about the chances of the flying Antelopes in the on going soccer season campaign.

He started by making a recall of his team's victory over Heartland fc in Owerri, on Sunday.

"I tell you, with due respect to Heartland, they were lucky to escape defeat when they came to Enugu. And going into the game in Owerri, I knew we'd win, "the former Nigeria international goal keeper stated.

" From the way they played against us in Enugu, I knew what was in stock and thus l switched to a more offensive tactics.

"And when their goal came from virtually no where and with the tactical awareness of my boys, I knew it was only a matter of time before we turned things around, "the  soft spoken gaffer added.
He continued," lmmediately after we got our goal, they started playing the long balls like we expected. Thank God, my boys held their heads, "he quipped sweetly.

Speaking further, he expressed his determination to make history with the illustrious oriental team.
" I love history and particularly the ones that inspires. I also try to create history, so people can know and learn about me, " he enthused.

" l know fans of Rangers are badly in need of a trophy after a long time. And I'm determined to make them happy by the grace of God," Imama said.

And to show his seriousness to break the trophy less run, the assistant coach of the Super Eagles went the psycological path.

" As a matter of fact, l bought a trophy that l always place at the entrance for my boys to see and understand our aims and objectives for the season, "he explained.

The award winning coach lamented the expulsion of Giwa fc from the NPFL. Adding that his team would have been at the top of the league, no thanks to the points removed from their accumulated points as a result of the LMC hammer on the Jos based team.

"My team is supposed to be at the top of the log, but for the expulsion of Giwa fc. And you know, we're the only team that went there and got a result, " the youthful looking tactician said ruefully.
