Following the media report that accused him of false age declaration, Nigerian player , Victor Emenayo, has reacted quickly to the story, declaring it as false and damaging.
In a telephone chat from his base in Azerbaijan, the highly rated striker who recently signed for top division side Shahdagh Qusar FK, in a emotion laden voice emphatically stated that he is not a age cheat, adding that the story was a figment of the writer's imagination.
"How can anybody claim or ascertain that l am not 23 years old merely by my looks. I am not a cheat and you know, people are quick to relate anything negative to Nigeria.
"I am not going to let that false and negative report affect my performance for my new team, "Emenayo said.
On his part, Efetobor Mukoro, one of the minders of the player expressed his disappointment over the report and wondered how the media can be unfair and carefree in the name of sensational reportage.
" I am pained and disappointed by the story. You know, looks are deceptive and l want to state categorically that Victor Emenayo is not a age cheat in anyway.
"He is a young man who has gone through a lot of challenges in his life. The media should be wary of what such unsavoury and negative reports can do to damage the boy's career, "Mukoro remarked.
