The Nigeria Bar Association, the NBA on Saturday went wild, saying it has drawn a battle line with the Federal Government over invasion and arrest of some judges found culpable in corrupt practices.
There have been noises of dictatorial and impunity claimed by the NBA.
The Department of State Services (DSS) had confirmed on Saturday that it carried out a special sting operation on some judges of Supreme, Appeal and High courts.
Various sums of monies recovered by the operatives included N93,558,000, $530,087, £25,970 and €5,680, Mr Abdullahi Garba of DSS, had said in a statement.
The NBA President, Abubakar Mahmoud, while addressing journalists alongside four past presidents, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to order the immediate release of the affected judges or there would be consequences.
Mahmoud addressed the press at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, alongside four past presidents of the association – Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN); Mr. J.B. Daudu (SAN) and Augustine Alegeh (SAN).
Asuming the Federal Government id 'guilty as charged'; the fundamental question to be asked the NBA is where were they when Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, entourage by hoodlums invaded a Federal High Court in the state, reportedly slapped the Chief Judge?
