The Muhammadu Buhari led Presidency may have been insolvent at it has revealed on Thursday that the Federal government has not paid the salaries and allowances of former Presidents of the federal Republic of Nigeria, including Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who just celebrated his 91st birthday, in the last ten months.
Shagari was President of Nigeria between 1979- 1983.
Others affected in the non payment of salaries and allowances since January this year are former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo; Goodluck Jonathan; former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, rtd; General Abdulsalami Abubakar; General Yakubu Gowon and Chief Ernest Shonekan.
These were revealed to the Senators Thursday when the Senate Committee on of Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, led by Senator Tijjani Kaura (APC, Zamfara North) visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.
