Nigeria Peace Corps Bill : C'River Commandant Lauds Senate, National Commandant
Cross River state Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Patriot Okweche Dominic has lauded the Senate for the smooth passage of the bill establishing the organization.

Okweche who stated this in Calabar  shortly after the bill was passed by the Senate on Thursday, November 24 also lauded the National Commandant of the organization, Ambassador Dickson Akoh for his commitment to ensure the bill see the light of the day.

According to him, "I want to first og all congrat our amiable National Commandant for his passion, commitment and determination to see that the bill to establish Nigeria Peace Corps becomes a reality.


"To the 8th assembly, especially the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of House of representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogora and members who sponsored this bill, I want to commend them for sharing in our vision. At some point in the last assembly, we thought this will never happen but today, God has made the dream of many years a reality".

While charging officers not to allow this distract them from doing their job, he advised them to remain resolute and committed to ensuring a peaceful and united Nigeria.

"I have stated many times that security in modern times has gone beyond just weapons. Peace Corps is not new in global security. Most of the developed countries who are living peacefully today created this organization for about thirty years ago to tackle the intelligence aspect of security.

"I'm happy with the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to security. I'm hopeful that the President will assent to this bill as soon as possible. While we await the President's assent, I want to charge all Peace corps officers to remain resolute and committed to building a peaceful and united Nigeria".
