Preparations for the much - awaited election of Nigeria Football Supporters Club election has reached advanced stages,with members of the club optimistic of a bright future for the club that has suffered internal crisis in recent times. 

Speaking with the press, the former Secretary - General of the NFSC, Rev. Sam lkpea, said the forthcoming election would make the club stronger. According to the ex-scribe who is one of the aspirants for the position of the National Chairman of the NFSC, the election was earlier scheduled for November 18th, 2016, but was later postponed at the behest of the NFF who expressed its interest to be present during the election , would now hold on December 10th, 2016, at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. 


"We had to respect the interest of the NFF who mediated peace in the club when the former acting national chairman, Vincent Okumagba was dismissed and later reabsolved by the executive national council of the club and thus, the election was moved forward to the new date in the spirit of peace and unity, "he explained. 

Speaking further, he admonished the NFF to be wary of meddling or being partisan in the affairs of the 61 years old club. 
" This club is 61 years old and of course, it is independent of the sports ministry and the NFF, therefore, we are guided by our own age-long rules and regulations. 

" The roles and importance of the Nigeria Supporters Club is huge and immeasurable in the annals of Nigerian football. This is a globally renowned brand and nothing or no group of persons would be allowed to undermine this brand, "he added. 

The widely travelled administrator, went ahead to reaffirm the unalloyed commitment of the club to the development of Nigerian football. Adding that as the 12th player of the national team, a peaceful and progressive supporters club will help to reinvigourate the fortunes of Nigerian football.
