Rather than security reason given by the ace hip-hop artist, Tuface Idibia as why suddenly canceled his much talked anti-Buhari Protest, a fresh fact has emerged that the reason is far more than what he said.
Report according to Daily Post suggests that Tiface mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia was behind the cancellation of the protest.
Tuface Idibia had earlier cancelled his much-publicised Feb. 6, anti-government protest.
In an Instagram post and a short video via his official handle @official2baba late Saturday the musician attributed the cancellation to “security reasons “.
The protest, was scheduled to hold in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of the country on Feb 6.
He said, “Dear Nigerians, due to security concerns and public safety consideration, I hereby announce the cancellation of the march.”
The decision came a day after Laolu Akande, a senior special assistant (media) in the presidency said that Tuface, had the right to protest.
Akande stated this on his tweeter handle: @akandeoj;
“It is fundamental right of the people”.
“This administration will not prevent Nigerians from expressing themselves in peaceful protests”, he said.
The planned protest gained momentum with several public figures and civil society groups pledging to be part of it on Monday.
Tuface called for nationwide protest against what he claimed as the worst economic crisis in the country which saw the costs of goods and services skyrocketing, with many families struggling to survive.
The Police had ealier warned against the protest after its initial promise to provide security.
The police commissioner in Lagos, Fatai Owoseni said the police would disallow the protest to hold on grounds that it could be hijacked by hoodlums and it is illegal.
Police authorities said they had “credible intelligence” that other groups were planning a counter protest on the same day and at the same venues, saying the event could turn violent.
In a new development, fresh revelations have emerged on the real reason music star, Innocent Ujah Idibia, otherwise known as 2face canceled his planned nationwide protest.
2baba shocked many of his fans when he took to his Instagram page to announced the cancellation of the much-talked about protest, citing security concerns.
However, findings according to Daily Post suggests that his mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia was behind the cancellation of the protest.
The singer had announced few weeks ago that he would be leading other entertainers to a nationwide protest to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to the untold hardship the current administration has subjected the nation to.
Following the announcement, the federal government warned him to rather express his grievances via a national broadcast instead of organizing a protest at a time the security situation in the nation was unstable.
The Lagos State police command had also vowed to stop the protest, claiming that the singer never took permission from them.
An insider hinted this newspaper that 2face’s mum who doubles as Vice Principal at Cherryfield College, Jikwoyi Abuja warned his son to hands off the protest.
“His mum was behind the cancellation of the protest. She was angry because 2baba (Innocent) never asked for her opinion before he went on air to announce the protest. His mother summoned him and asked him to call it off because he has nothing to gain from it, rather he would buy enemies for himself,” a source said.
It was also gathered that some powerful Nigerians in the corridor of power have mounted pressure not only on the musician but also his mother and the result was what Tuface did at the 11th hours
