Pro-Buhari group wants stipends to indigent citizens increased to N10,000

Muhammmadu Buhari
Thousands of Nigerians that came out yesterday to support the economic policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration have urged him to increase the stipends paid to vulnerable Nigerians by the Federal Government to N10,000 from next year.

They converged on the unity fountain in Abuja as early as 8am to express their support for the Buhari led administration but urged him to do more in the area of power, infrastructures, education among other things.

Led by the National Coordinator of the Coalition for good governance and change initiative, Okpokwu ogenyi, the crowd made up of mostly women and youths said after analysing the various government policies, it discovered that the lost glory of Nigeria is returning with a full force.

"Yes, the Nigeria of today has built capacity for our Military, the once dreaded Boko Haram has been defeated. Camp Zero in Sambisa which should to house the defence headquarters of Abuja has been captured.

"This was where all the evil plots against our state was once coordinated. We are happy that unlike in the past when they brought the battle to Abuja and we were running away like cowards, the story has changed today as our gallant military have suffocated and sniffed every oxygen out of them.

'Under this administration, we have a health intervention program where the federal government engaged professionals on special cases of health challenges, carrying out operations that many have no money to under go, the government did it free. Is this not change?

"The social investment programme of Mr President is working. The school feeding project has commenced and being extended to states.

"While some complain of hunger, President Buhari has commenced payment of #5000 monthly stipends to vulnerable Nigerians, taking care of the extreme poor in the society, a promise fulfilled. We are here to appreciate Mr. President and to behave like Oliver Twist that we want N10,000 by next year and we know Mr. President is going to do that for us.

"Today, President Buhari's administration is fixing young graduates with employers, they are also getting #30,000 monthly stipends while getting work experience through the N-Power Programme. We all know that SURE-P yesterday was for them and their drivers. We had a situation where even Ministers and Governors under the past administration disguised themselves as vulnerable and less privileged persons because of corruption. This case has changed because of President Buhari's stands against corruption.

"In today's Nigeria, corrupt leaders have been caged. Those who seek public office with the anticipation of becoming billionaires are already regretting it. They do not have money to steal, what about those who have stolen in the past? , they are returning the loot one after another while others are being prosecuted.

"So far, over 300, 000 youths have been taken off the streets and 200,000 more are about to join. We continue to see opportunities and zeal of the government in improving livesof citizenry.

'We are in an era of improved infrastructure, with cautious efforts in improving the living standards of Nigerians.

"Mr President have no special friends that are allowed to import expired rice through festive period, that's why, those who complain of government policies are not saying Nigerians are dieing.

"While we commend Mr President and his team for their efforts, we also regret internal sabotage by some senior citizens whose actions are retrogressive instead of the progressive ideas of the government.

"We are Nigerians, very patriotic, we shall continue to commend government where success is attained and as well, criticise her where we found her lacking.

"We hereby appeal to all Nigerians to be more patriotic, and defend the Nigeria Project" he said
