Civil society organisations, CSOs, Non governmental organisations, NGOs today converged on Abuja to express their support for the present administration.
Under the banner of the Truth and Justice Movement of Nigeria, the groups staged a rally in Abuja to pass a vote of confidence on the government of President
Muhammadu Buhari.
The group also accused anti-government agents of spreading falsehood about the state of health of President Buhari in order to discredit his government.
The movement described those behind the rumour as wicked and malicious.
Convener of the rally, Honourable Johnson Ondoma, said even, as they sent people to the streets to make ridiculous demands, during a protest against government policies last week, they are already plotting and sharing positions among themselves.
"In order to make it look as if President Buhari has not achieved anything, they staged protests across the country to demand good governance.
"Their malicious intent is made evident by the way they openly ignored the facts", Ondoma said.
The group said, "$9.8 million was discovered in a safe at the house of a former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, which he declared as gifts kept as housekeeping change.
A $37.5 million property belonging to Diezani Alison-Madueke was uncovered in Banana Island, Lagos. Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed revealed that $151 million was recovered in stolen funds. The list goes on", he said.
He said credit should be given to the government of President Buhari that corrupt elements are being exposed daily.
On the state of the economy, the movement accused anti-government protesters of inciting Nigerians to hold President Buhari wholly responsible for the slide in the naira and the consequent recession that has touched Nigerians with economic hardship.
"Sadly, these same instigators were the ones that served governments that refused to save for the rainy day. They were the ones that never thought to diversify the economy but continued to deepen our dependence on crude oil earnings; they were the ones that collaborated to make the multi-billion dollars theft possible.
"In addition to this historical sabotage of the economy by those in power, their boys in the creeks are damaging oil export infrastructure under the guise of being Niger Delta militants. These are the men who do not want to do any work but want to be placed on the dole. They are the ones that have further worsened the economy", Ondoma said.
He said those who are sincere will acknowledge the investment in infrastructure that is now bringing improvement to roads and other critical national assets.
He further said unlike in the past when the money for these road contacts were usually shared and made to circulate round, the funds released are now actually going into getting the jobs done.
To the movement, If people were not getting slush funds passed down to them, it means they have to review their personal economic activities within the reality of an anti-corruption era.
He said today, not only has the slide into chaos from terrorist groups like Boko Haram been halted, the insurgent have been defeated while operations continue to mop up the remnants of their fighters.
The rally had various artiste and women group who danced to several renditions by up coming musicians all in honour of President Buhari and his administration.
