DEMOCRACY DAY:AIDOKO URGES KOGI EAST POLITICAL ELITES NOT TO DETER POPULAR CHOICE

Kogi east senator,Atai Aidoko Ali has advocated for restraint on the part of elites from kogi east,particularly on their choice of candidates for elective offices to enable the people leverage on the tenets of democracy by giving the popular choice the will to vie and win elections

Aidoko dropped this revelation through the media office to mark this year's democracy day and to also access the impact of  ‎democratic practice in the last 18 years after series of military interregnum in the polity

He said a situation were political gladiators relies so much on your pedigree,family background and antecedents under the guise of underhand manipulation to install their acquaintances,favourites,loyalist and apologists had retard genuine dividends of democracy to the area and the entire state  


Aidoko stated this development had done an unquantified damages to the polity of the area at all levels since the struggle and return of a stable democracy to nigeria, hence‎ eluding the area the much sought for and needed dividends of democracy

"How can the politics that evolves mass participation,equal representation,and freedom of association relied and operated on,Who are you,Who is your father,Where do you come from,What are your pedigrees,What are your connections? This is unacceptable and the contrivances of our political elites who never want to see some faces in the political scene and politics of the area,and it is high time we move beyond all these pettiness or rather deregulate our political system"

The Ranking senator opined that the selfish,‎self centred and self inflicted tendencies brought the area to were we are today in view of the political logjam,saying this trend is undemocratic and must be redressed and not condoned, which form the basis of some of them in political corridor of the area and national discourse in a thriving phenomenon 

Senator Aidoko regretted the prevailing situation and stressed the need for a sharp departure to redress the suicidal political stance and anomaly,saying all hope is not lost for the area to embrace populist policy of democracy and return to the drawing board

Senate committee chairman on SDGs sympathised with the political class of the area and by extension the workers and pensioners at all levels for the turn of events in the state,urging them ‎to pray fervently for nigeria democracy,saying the current wind blowing in the state will reddraw itself at the appropriate time

"If the political elites have avoided internal wrangling orchestrated by intra and inter party crises cum personal interest and volition,the area will turn better for it"

He paid glowing tributes to institutions,groups,and groups of individuals that have doggedly fought for the return of democracy in the last two decades,saying for their roles ‎and privileged given to some of them to participate,It is left to history and posterity to judge objectively without sentiments

Kogi east senator urged the people to pray for nigeria  leaders ‎at all levels particularly for president Mohammadu Buhari health to ensure he recuperate fast as well as wishing Nigerians many more years of celebration of our nascent democracy
