Itel Mobile Nigeria, manufacturer of mobile phones as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility reached out to the students and pupils of Motherland Group of schools, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
In his welcome address, Mr. Oke Umurhohwo who is the Marketing Communications manager, Itel Mobile Nigeria. told the excited youths that the need to support education and to encourage pupils and students to learn were some of the reasons for coming all the way from Lagos to put smiles on their faces.
“Itel Mobile Nigeria supports education and we encourage youths to learn because education to Itel Nigeria Mobile is very paramount. Our believe is that promotion of CSR will boost the morale of the students and also allow the parents to save money. We don’t give condition or priorities before reaching out to those we believe are in need of it” Oke said
In her own address, the proprietress of Motherland Group of Schools, Mrs. Abosede Onabanjo, who was full of smiles and appreciation throughout the one hour exercise said that Itel Mobile Nigeria gesture, which was the first of its kind in her school will go a long way in encouraging the children to come to school regularly as well as solving the problems of those without inadequate educational materials.
“Itel Mobile Nigeria’s gesture is not just rare, but also commendable . They don’t know us from Adam. And for them to have picked our Schools call for jubilation.
“Many of the students were truly without school bags; some exercise books were already torn. So far they just resumed and parents are still battling with payment of school fees, there is little we can do to force them to do in providing new school bags and other materials for the students and pupils in lower classes. But Itel Mobile Nigeria coming here with school bags, mathematical sets, pencil cases, exercise books and other educational support materials to the youths, sky remains the beginning.
“And the good news is that majority of the late comers are very early to the school today. And I believe it will continue like this as I call on other organizations to remember us in the rural communities”. The proprietress revealed.
The pupils in primary school and the students in the higher class showcased various forms of entertainments to add value to the occasion such as poetry, drama, bojuboju game, dancing est.
Itel Mobile Nigeria according to its spokesman, Oke, do not discriminate in reaching out to schools.
“We find out about schools the students and what they need, priorities their needs it and visit with our widow’s mite, we have been doing this for a while and have donate to schools in such states as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and here we are now in Osun. We will go to other sates soon”. Oke concluded.
