The Coalition of Civil Society on Movement for Good Governance, CCSMGG has berated the Sahara Reporters over what it described as mischievous, unfounded and unethically imbalance reporting over the leaked bribe audio tape involving Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West senatorial district and a Cross River State Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme.

The leader of the group, Comrade Ajibade Oyayeye in a media statement seen by News Punch said the report by Sahara Reporters on the alleged leaked bribe tape is unfounded, mischievious, biased and imbalance, negating the ethical practice of reporting.

Comrade Oyayeye specifically mentioned Mr. Omoyele Sowore, the Publisher of Sahara Reporters to always ensure a proper investigation, analysis, and balancing of a report before publication.

He said;

"There is no big deal in reporting the ills of some individuals, group or government in the society, but such report must be devoid of sentiments, witch-hunting, imbalance and mischievousness."

"I have no doubt the purported leaked audio credited to Senator Dino Melaye is not just imbalance but also mischievous. Remember Dino and Sahara Reporters are currently on warpath in series of issues. Some of the cases are in court already".

"The best practice of journalism involves balancing of reports, which means, getting both sides of parties involved in a report, but when a report is devoid of this, it's nothing but unethical imbalance, and most often mischievous."

"Sahara Reporters should learn how to be an unbiased reporter and avoid mischievousness like this Dino's", Comrade Oyayeye concluded in the statement.

Recalls Sahara reporters has published a leaked audio tape of Senator Dino Melaye's conversation with Justice Akon Ikpeme of Cross River.

In the audio tape, which allegedly captures a telephone conversation between the judge and the Kogi West Senator, Ikpeme could be heard telling Melaye to give her bribe in US dollars.

Senator Dino Melaye in reaction to the report has described it as another lie manufactured to further soil his revered name.  He alleged that the voices in the tape are neither his nor that of Justice Akon Ikpeme.
