The Guaranty Trust Bank as part of its numerous corporate social responsibilities has proven that it does not just banks but also cares for the Nigerian populace.
As part of the bank's social responsibilities and cares for the society, some schools have been renovated, wearing a new look of modernization.
The latest of the Bank's effort is the renovation of Herbert Macaulay Library, in Yaba Lagos
The library, which was launched by the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday was equipped with facilities to boost literacy, reading culture and ICT compliance also wears a new also wears a beautiful new look.
The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, urged the people to put the e-library to good use and maintain it.
The library was formally known as the Federal Ministry of Education School Library, Yaba.
It was upgraded by the state government in partnership with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).
The library has a reading session tagged: Herbert Macaulay Collections, Code Lagos Centre, art gallery, one of the oldest bibles, among others.
”We are returning this library to the public today. It is for the use of scholars, academics, non-academics, all and sundry.”
Mr Segun Agbaje, Managing Director, GTBank appreciated the state government for initiating the partnership with the bank.
”The library, which is one of the oldest in the country, was renamed Herbert Macaulay Library by Alhaji Lateef Jakande in honour of the great nationalist for his good leadership in Nigeria.
”With this e-library, we hope it will mould great and future nationalists who will be change agents in the society, ” Agbaje said.
Earlier, the GTBanks has renovated two schools in Kano.
The schools refurbished are renovated the Kofar Kudu primary school and girls secondary school in the Kano emirate palace.
One of the school renovated was attended by late Kano emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero and the father of the present Kano emir in the 1930s..
No doubt, banking world is all about GTBank, the Bank that does not just bank well but also cares For the Nigerian populace.
