Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam has lauded the academic wizardry of the Ede, Osun state born renowned Historian, Professor Siyan Oyeweso for being inducted into Nigerian Academy of Letters, saying the university don has done the state proud.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butika, Speaker Salaam in a letter of congratulations sent to Oyeweso, said he was elated that his scholarship and other academic engagements which have redefined histories and literature in this part of the world have been acknowledged by the elitist academy.
Speaker Salaam thumbed up for the erudition of Oyeweso, saying that his interventions and publications on histories of icons in Yorubaland have started enriching departments of history in Higher institutions of learning already and would form a good template for schools and libraries in the future.
Speaker Salaam also charged Oyeweso to see his induction into the academy as a big challenge that must be taken up, especially now that history as a subject has been returned to the post elementary school curriculum; urging the don to come up with sprawling interventions that could give history a solid footing nation's schools with a view to equipping the future leaders.
He expressed his delight in the honor his induction has done the state, asserting that the state parliament identifies with him in his moment of academic glory.
