The Coalition of Civil Societies on Movement for Good Governance, CCSMGG has passed a vote of confidence in the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai in fight to totally defeat the Boko Haram insurgency
The group's declaration was made at a press conference in In Ikeja Lagos.
Speaking at the press conference, the national coordinator of CCSMGG, Comrade Ajibade samuel said since the inception of the new Chief of Army Staff, Buratai, the Nigerian Army has succeeded in decimating the insurgent group.
He commended the efforts made by Buratai led Nigerian army at reclaiming the some territories earlier occupied and controlled of the Boko Haram.
Ajubade further said the COAS and other Service Chief's relocation to Maiduguri as directed by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is a welcome development and a rare display of commitment and loyalty to the Nigerian Government.
CCSMGG coordinator, however urged the Nigerian Government to ensure it adequately equip and encourage the army fighting against the Boko Haram in the Northeast.
His comment read in part; "We at the Movement passed the confidence vote in Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai because of his exemplary and committed roles he has been displaying in the fight against the insurgency in Nigeria since his appointment as the COAS."
"Buratai's resilience and uncompromising fight against the Boko Haram have seen the insurgent group reduced to fugitives unlike when they (Boko Haram) were occupying and controlling over 10 Local Governments in Borno State.
"The CCSMGG urged the government to re-equip and fund the Nigerian army as a way of encouragement to ensure the total defeat of the Boko Haram and other insurgent group", he said
