The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi Adewale has condemned in a strong term the "resume or resign" protest led by entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy against President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Osun monarch in a statement sent to News Punch posited that rather than protest against the President, the protesters should have shown love by praying for the President. Oluwo said resignation should not be the solution to medical leave for a sick person, of which President Buhari is not exempted.
Oluwo said; "Should we ask our mothers who get maternity leave to resign? Should any worker who falls sick for few months be asked to resign from work? This call against our dear President is very wrong. Rather than the protest, they should have shown love to the President by praying for him. We all fall sick at a point in time. Let put ourselves in Buhari's shoe".
Charly Boy had led a protest against the President Buhari with the theme #OurMumuDonDo. Thousands were mobilised with various inscriptions on placards. The protest gained ground in Abuja until three days ago when some suspected thugs attack the protesters, thereby ending the protest abruptly.
The Oluwo will on the 24th August 2017 hold a special prayer session for President Muhammadu Buhari quicker recovery and the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in his Palace at Iwo.
