Fight Against Corruption Begins With Us, By Terfa Naswem
Most of us criticize politicians for being corrupt. If investigations were to be carried out right now on most of us who make such criticisms, it will be realized that some of us have defrauded others and still doing it; have borrowed money we have perpetually refused to pay back; have been robbing others of their belongings; Some of us have employees we have deliberately refused to pay them their salaries and entitlements; have conspired with others to commit crime; have embezzled money in our custody; some of us have done shady deals in our offices: hiding workers' files, delaying their promotion, promoting nepotism, ethnicity and collecting bribe.

Yet, we keep on saying Saraki is corrupt, Ameachi is corrupt, Tinubu is corrupt, Atiku is corrupt, Obasanjo is corrupt and so on. Are we sincere with our dealings in places where we have the power to make a difference? If we are not, then how can we be better than all the politicians we criticise for being corrupt if we find ourselves in their shoes?

Only those who have been sincere in their dealings with others and have refused to be compromised regardless of who is involved can make significant impact as future leaders.

As we take time to criticise politicians for being corrupt, we should also take time to work on ourselves (self-denial of corruption) as well because the difference must begin with us or the future will be worse than the present.
