Re-Pastor Adeboye's Visit To PMB In UK
I read some comments on the above subject on a friend's page, and I still feel sorry for this nation. We are often carried away by sentiments; especially when it has to do with religion, politics, family and/or tribe.
There is nothing wrong with the visit, I agree. There is also nothing wrong in posting it for the public. But there may be too many things wrong with what the visit is meant to achieve.
If it is simply to pray for our dear President, without telling him the fundamental truth, in my opinion, the trip may not be helpful to Nigeria as a nation.
As a spiritual leader, Baba Adeboye (and many other pastors) own us the obligation of telling our leaders the truth. This is not happening so much in Nigeria; and that is a major source of our problem. Check the roles played by Prophets in the Bible for their nation Israel - Jeremiah, Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, etc. Read the Bible and see how they confronted bad leaderships and governances openly. How many of our pastors are doing that?
See how Bishop Anthony Okogie confronted Babangida when he was CAN President. We still hold the memories of how Late Pope John Paul confronted Abacha with the truth during his visit to Nigeria. How many of our pastors are playing this role in Nigeria?
Many of them prefer to dine with them, and play the part of prayers (which is of course, not bad), but they deliberately neglect another vital part, which is telling them the truth.
I appeal to us who are close them, to respectfully appeal to them that they have more vital roles to play than visits and prayers.
