Corp members from North East serving in Ebonyi State have commended
the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of
The House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara for initiating the North
East Development Commission (NEDC) Bill which was signed into law by
President Muhammadu Buhari, now the NEDC Act.
News Punch gathers that corp members from the North East who are
carrying out their National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in Ebonyi State
are happy with Saraki and Dogara for initiating the NEDC Bill which
has finally become the NEDC Act that would make significant impact on
the people of the North East from Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe
and Taraba.
Ishaya Bulus, a corp member with state code EB/16B/2477 from Demsa
Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State serving in Ebonyi State
said, "I am so happy about the NEDC Bill that was initiated by Saraki
and Dogara which has now become law. With the devastation in some
parts of the North East caused by Boko Haram, the NEDC is timely at a
time like this. Even before the insurgency, the North East was
underdeveloped.
"Just like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has brought
notable changes in the Niger Delta, the NEDC will do the same in the
North East. The appropriate authorities should ensure that the NEDC
takes the issues of roads, electricity, education, water and improved
health system as top priorities", he said.
Charles Koji, a corp member with state code EB/16B/2485 from Michika
LGA of Adamawa State serving in Ebonyi State said that he is very
grateful to Saraki and Dogara who have shown that they truly care
about the development of Nigeria by initiating the NEDC Bill which has
been signed into law.
Tabitha Yusuf, a corp member with state code EB/16B/2352 from Balanga
LGA of Gombe State said she has been following the proceedings of the
Nigerian Senate and has seen the good work of the Senate President,
Saraki in making Nigeria better. She said Dogara has also been
instrumental to the progress of the National Assembly and Nigeria and
admires his good working relationship with Saraki which ensured that
the NEDC Bill was initiated.
"Without the NEDC Bill, there will be no NEDC Act. I strongly believe
that the NEDC will bring significant change in the North East. I pray
that credible people should be appointed to manage the affairs of the
commission or its aim will be defeated before arrival", she said.
