Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam has commiserated with bereaved families of traders who lost their lives in a ghastly truck accident which claimed seven lives of Osun traders, while returning to Osogbo from Kwara state where they had gone for their trade.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butika, Speaker Salaam stressed that it was painful and shocking that the poor women lost their lives, because they could not be timely helped beneath the fallen bags of their stock.
He implored the Road Safety officials to keep their presence on interstate roads the more instead of operating in some remote corners or concentrating on particulars of vehicles in some bad portions of the road, saying safety on the highways matters first in line with their core mandate.
He reiterated: "I will want to implore Road Safety Corps to double up their effort and increase their numbers through our serving Corp members of National Youth Service with a view to having considerable presence on our highways of interstate roads, so as to make the roads safe for everyone.
Speaker Salaam then sent condolences of the state parliament to the bereaved families of the traders, praying that God would rest their souls.
