Mr. Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has said the anti-graft agency has concrete evidence against Ex-Director-General of the Department of State Services, Mr. Ita Ekpeyong; and a former DG of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The EFCC boss made the declaration on Wednesday after he attended the inauguration of the committee on recoveries of assets at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Magu said the commission would not back down on the planned arrest of the duo.
He said, no matter how highly placed, nobody is above the law of the land. “The law will take its course,” he said.
Recall the men of the DSS yesterday prevented the EFCC from arresting Mr. Ita Ekpeyong and Ayo Oke.
The anti-graft agency had stormed the residences of Ayo Oke, sacked director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Ita Ekpeyong, the immediate past director-general of the DSS, in a bid to arrest both men.
But the operatives guiding the two top security officials resisted the move, resulting in a heated argument.
The EFCC had invited Oke for questioning in connection with the $43 million found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Oke’s wife, who has also been summoned, was identified as the owner of the apartment.
