The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Thursday, lost one of his wives, Olori Kudirat Aduke amidst stormy crisis with the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi and the new 21 crowned monarch in Ibadan city.
Oba Saliu has been at loggerhead with the governor over the elevation of some 21 chiefs to the status of kings in Ibadan. The Kings had recently handed Olubadan a 21-day ultimatum to vacate his throne. The altimatum has been countered by the mogajis (the Oubadan recognizes high chiefs).
The Olori's demise was contained in a statement by Olubadan’s Director of Media and Publicity, Adeola Oloko, said Olori Aduke died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 71.
The statement said, “The Olori passed away in the early hours of Thursday December 21, 2017. Until her death, she was the Iyaloja of Bolade, Oshodi Market, Lagos.
“She will be buried today (Thursday) at the Popoyemoja, Ibadan palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland at 4pm according to Muslim rites.
“She is survived by her husband, many children and grand-children.”
