Former SGF, Alhaji Gidado Idris Dies

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation under the late Sani Abacha, Alhaji Gidado Idris, GCON, has reportedly died

He died at the age 82 on Friday at an Abuja hospital after a protracted illness, a family source revealed

Idris, who had also served Nigeria in different positions rose to the highest rank in the civil service before retiring in 1999.

The late Idris was a trusted aide of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria.

He is expected to be buried today according to Islamic rites
