The National Peoples Democratic Party Professional and Business Group(NPDPPBG) has opined that to ensure political stability,economic emancipation and social equality,it will not be out of place the continuous engagement of more professionals in all facets of our national life
Dr Omede Idris,APBN president,Coordinator PDP professional group and former National President,Nigerian medical Association made this assertion in a key note address delivered during the convention held at National merit house maitama Abuja with its theme, The role of Nigerian Professionals in National politics and Leadership
According to his submission,Professionals in politics and leadership should carry out roles that will address basic issues with the cooperation of members using the PDP as a pacesetter towards the positive thinking and decision making
APBN President said strict adherence to suggestions of this magnitude will play down acrimony,intra party crises of succession that will guarantee obvious performance indices to address flaws and profer possible solutions
The keynote speaker expressed regrets that politics in nigeria had placed most professionals at disadvantaged position owing to funding,but encouraged those in these category not to be detered as they have distinguished themselves through empowerment and charity programs to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor as well as the vulnerable in the society
Dr Omede Idris salute the courage,efforts and achievement of former leaders of the country who have made outstanding achievement in their given responsibilities,said the need to explore professional bodies cannot be over emphasised
According to him,"Professionals are pivotal and strategically equipped as policy members and implementers, supervisors and evaluators or monitor of government projects and program either as elected or appointed political heads or as public or civil servants, and with the right attitude, ethics , integrity and transparency , accountability , discipline, honesty and commitment should be actualize good governance and leadership with clear outcome in areas of infrastructure, administration, service delivery, training, and research".
