The member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorothy Mato said the National Assembly as part of its constitutional duty to ensure the protection of lives and property, takes the security of Nigerians a top priority.
In a statement issued through her media department on Monday, January 15, 2018, Hon. Mato said the Senate and House of Representatives would intensify measures with the Executive to effectively tackle the herdsmen attacks on some communities in Benue State and other parts of Nigeria including other security challenges across the country.
She said the the members of Senate Adhoc Committee on Security Infrastructure were in Makurdi, Benue State on Saturday, January 13, 2018 for fact-finding of the attacks to present an interim report on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 when the National Assembly proceedings begin after resumption from recess. The House of Representatives will also deliberate on the matter.
According to her, she will work collectively with other legislators from the state and beyond for pragmatic approach to be taken to ensure that the issue among other security challenges are tackled more decisively.
