Bode Ekerin, a fifth-year medical student from the Lagos State University College of Medicine has been selected to participate in the United States sponsored Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) training. he was selected from a pool of over 20,000 applications across West Africa.
It was gathered that Bode was the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State University Medical Students’ Association (LASUMSA) and recently lost the election to become President of the same association. He is known to be committed to the personal development of himself and those around him. Bode will be receiving trained in public policy and management

YALI was launched by the United States government as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African Leaders. The three – weeks all-expense paid training will hold at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Accra and will bring together 100 youths selected across West Africa. It will run from March 5 to March 23, 2018
While speaking with NewsProof, Bode said “I commend the US government for their commitment towards developing young African leaders and I appreciate them for my selection. This is the third time I will be applying for this training, couldn’t even get through to the interview stage in the previous two. I didn’t even know I was going to be selected looking at how competitive the selection process is and how my interview went”.
