The need to invest time and effort in nurturing the next generation of team players who will make this world a better place than we met it ,as well as the need to promote good health and wellbeing through games were the key motives surrounding the support of Mega Lifesciences Nigeria Limited, owners and producers of Ginsomin health products for throwing its weight behind the successful hosting of the 4th Nigerian Medical Association National games.
Christened 4th NMA National games 2018, the five days event still going on in the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta features football, tennis, scrabble, table tennis, basketball, badminton, draught, chess and volleyball, among other games of interest.

Declaring the event opened on last wednesday, the Ogun state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun thanked the body for deeming it fit to make Abeokuta the hosting state. He promised they all get good reception and support. He also called on Ogun state contigents to pick majority of the medals.
In his speech, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, the chairman, NMA national sport committee, said that the major reason behind the event was to allow Doctors practice what they preach. “The games provide a relaxed atmosphere for creation and sustenance of physical fitness and healthy rivalry off the hospital cum academic terrain where comradeship could be forged and if already forged, strengthened it”. Ojinmah said.
Dr. Abayomi Olajide, The chairman , Ogun state NMA, opined that , the 4th NMA games has generated good media coverage from the unveiling of the sports logo, lightening of the game’s torch and presentation of the official ganes , mascot by His Excellency, Gov. Amosun.
“During the course of preparing for the games, we have decorated quite a few NMA games Ambassadors and Patrons who have contributed in no small measure to health and sports development in our society”.
Some of the dignitaries at the opening ceremony includes, the host governor, Ibikunle Amsoun; Dr. Leke Pitan, former Lagos state commissioner for Health; Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamowora, Amaju Pinnick, Sagiraju S. Raju of the Mega Lifesciences.
Earlier, the association paid a courtesy call on the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo who urged the federal and state governments to develop more sporting activities and use them to promote sound mind and sound body in the citizens.
Meanwhile, Dr Nnenna Nduka and Dr Ilo Ejele from South-South Zone picked up the gold medal in the women’s doubles in the badminton event.
They defeated the pair of Dr Tiodunmo and Dr Adejimi Yemi from Ogun in the final to emerge winners.The bronze medal was won by Dr Dike Crescentia and Dr Daniel Purity from South-East.
In the women’s singles, in the table tennis event, Dr Chinyere, representing North-Central beat Dr Nduka from South South to claim gold.
The duo of Dr Tiodunmi of Ogun and Purity both claimed bronze.
And in the women’s doubles also in table tennis, Dr Ejele and Dr Nduka from South South won the gold medal.
The silver medal was won by Dr Nassir and Dr Ajayi from Ogun, while Dr Purity and Dr Chizoba from South East got the bronze medal.
And in the third place match in the basketball event, North Central beat South East 21 points to 12.
