The member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorothy Mato said she will at all times stand by the people of her constituency and state whose interests she represents.
In a statement issued through her media department on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, she called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use his powers as the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and bring fairness and justice to the people of Benue State who are being attacked by herdsmen.
"The people of my constituency and state do not hate President Buhari because they massively voted for him in 2015. They only hate the way he is handling the attacks of herdsmen on Benue. When the President visited Benue State on a condolence tour, the streets were empty and protest banners were seen in some areas because the people are not happy with him. The President should understand that Gov. Samuel Ortom did not make the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law. The Benue People did, so it is not Ortom's law but the Benue people's law that should be respected and implemented.

"I have visited and interacted with some of my people and I know how they feel. They are very peace-loving and forgiving people. Once Mr. President does the needful, they will forgive him and do their best for a better Benue and Nigeria," she said.
