Governor Akinwumi Ambode is indeed a lucky man, this is due to the crave by the  Lagos citizens to make sure he continues the good work he started in the office now in the first term, in his second term too.

Basking in the euphoria of  being chosen to contest again due to the positive landmarks he has made as the governor of the Lagos, the center of excellence’ and also the  vote of confidence passed  on him by the Lagos state house of assembly to run for the second term, the Lagos state women led by Chief Mrs.Kemi Nelson, APC Zonal Women Leader, South West-Nigeria and Chief Convener of the Lagos women seeking for the governor’s return to the office converged at the Police College ground to canvass for support for him.

From across the 57 local government councils and LCDA,   the women Wing of the All Progressives Congress on Monday urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State to seek for  a second term in office, as the 2019 gubernatorial election beckons.

The occasion  witnessed a mammoth turnout as women in turn try to outshine each other amidst dance and match pasts.
Kemi Nelson commended the governor’s total dedication to duty, his enormous development projects and his desire to make the state a better place to live.
She said: “Governor Ambode has been doing well for us in all spheres of life by giving us a voice in government. That women had benefitted from the programmes and policies of his administration.

Continuing, “On the domestic front, he has been supportive, and on the economic front, he has through his economic policies, enlarged the economy of the state.
“Governor Ambode has also engaged more women in the highest policy organ of the state government.
“This is why we are gathered here to take a stand on behalf of our mothers, sisters and daughters as we approach another election year and to declare our support for his re-election, so that he can continue to make our state an enviable state.”

For the young and agile, Princess Folasade Olabanji-Oba, the need to showcase the importance of handwork , in order to encourage others in leaderships position to take a cue from Governor Ambode, hence the key desire for  coming out en-masse to organize this.
“It is not common to see something like this, but because we have seen his Midas touch in all areas of need, hence the need for coming out to tell him to continue; by coming out again in the next election. Going round the state, you will virtually see his impact in all local government councils and LCDAs. He didn’t limit it to one place only’’. Olabanji-Oba enthused.
Coming from Abuja, PrincessAdejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals, urged the party leaders to allocate more slots for women to occupy political positions.
Orelope-Adefulire said: “Our men in political positions have been outstanding, they stand very tall among men of extra giant strides.
”But we beg for more slots, appointment and positions for our women, because they have a lot to contribute to the development of the society.”
Receiving their endorsement letter on behalf of Ambode, the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, thanked the women for supporting the Gov. Ambode led-administration.
She promised that the state government would continue to give women their pride of place by providing the enabling environment for all to succeed.
Adebule also urged residents to be part of the Continuous Voter Registration being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission and ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards, saying that it is the only means of participating in the 2019 elections.

Prizes were given out to the local government councils that came atop in the matching past.
