Engineering Setonji David, the lawmaker representing Badagry constituency II has been described as "a performer", whose achievements in the last three years are unprecedented.
The encomiums were poured on him by the Executive Council Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Honourable Samson Olatunde, and his Badagry counterpart, Mr. Teliat Onilude during the annual town hall meeting held today at Oko-Afo area of Olorunda LCDA.
Hon. Samson, the host of the council chairman, while welcoming the teaming constituents and supporters from both Badagry and Olorunda commended Setonji on series of his achievements, especially on roads rehabilitation across the constituency. He said the lawmaker, whose primary responsibility was to make laws for the state has moved a step further by providing some basic social amenities to the constituency.
"Honourable Setonji, has undoubtedly performed beyond our imagination, he has impacted positively to the lives of Olorunda people and beyond since his election three years ago. I am very happy, especially on his aggressive roads rehabilitation across the length and breadth of our councils, we are proud of him. I am not here to campaign for him, but it's high time we lend credence voice to whom really deserve one, we are proud of him," the Olorunda Council Chairman, Samson Olatunde extolled.
Also at the event was Honourable Teliat Onilude, the Council Chairman of Badagry Central Local Government. He described Hon. Setonji as a trailblazer whose performance will remain unmatched for many years. He said he has no doubt that the Badagry constituency II constituents will re-elect him by 2019, judging by his excellent performance.
Apart from the council chairmen; political leaders, women, youths, artisans, technocrats, and residents who came to the event were full of praises for Honourable Setonji. Many described him as a man who keeps to his promises.
During the Town Hall meeting, the constituents also seized the opportunity to make demands on other areas which they want their representative at the State Assembly improves on. The bad states of roads, especially the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, insecurity in some areas, inadequate schools to match the fast-growing population were few areas which they want the lawmaker to help them on.
Setonji, while reacting to the various demands by the constituents said all demand would be treated and addressed. He, again, reiterated his efforts, especially on the deplorable state of Lagos Badagry expressway. He said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is aware of the suffering of the masses in Badagry and has promised to put in place, a palliative measure that will make the road motorable pending the time the ongoing 10-lane reconstruction gets to Badagry.
"Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is already in the know of the bad state of Lagos Badagry Expressway and has promised to wade in very soon," Setonji said.
The Lagos lawmaker, however, used the occasion to crave for the support of his constituents as he seeks reelection by 2019. He said the last three years, despite his achievements, was a learning process. He said if re-elected, he will use the vast experience gathered to deliver, even more, dividends of democracy to the people of Badagry.
He thanked the political leaders and the people for the confidence reposed in him to represent them at the State Assembly. He said if allowed to serve again, his present achievements will be a mere a tip of an iceberg compared to what he would offer the people.
The occasion which was well attended by politicians, community heads, monarchs, trade unions, youths, and women was the third of its kind in the present dispensation.
