Information reaching this medium indicates that the governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode has began to unfold his defection plans. Reliable sources within his camp have revealed that Ambode is set to contest the next governoship election in Lagos state as the candidate of the Accord Party. It was disclosed that someone from Lagos purchased a governorship form supposedly for Ambode. The name there is a dummy to be replaced exploiting the provisions of the electoral law.
A dummy name is in place under the Accord party and the necessary substitution will be made just before the final date. Another party source disclose that 40 House of Assembly forms were also purchased for aspirants from Lagos as well as three Senatorial forms.
Recall that Lagos State House of Assembly has 40 lawmakers. The conclusion is that Ambode is planning to dump APC with the hope of re-enacting the Otedola scenario.
A Lagos lawmaker who analyzed the situation said it is known that APC members who are aggrieved have been eyeing the Accord party. Ogun state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, recently threatened to decamp to Accord party and has infact told some of his followers to do that.
He opined that Ambode would be committing political hara-kiri if he moves to Accord party or seeks to undermine APC in Lagos.
Our investigations revealed that the likes of Tokunbo Afikuyomi and Fuad Oki are now Ambode’s political advisers. They are back full time after they failed to deliver the APC ticket at the primaries to him.
The lawmaker noted that “Fouad Oki’s political pedigree is not suited for his new found assignment of being Ambode’s lackey. His sudden flip flops and opposition to the imagined impeachment move are attempts to justify the investment Ambode made in him. Fouad will soon find out that Lagos is discerning and does recognize the double speak, political rabble rousing and all that jazz from him as that coming from one desperate for political relevance.”
