Nigeria Integrity Movement (NIM),has accussed Social-Economic Rights and Accountability Projects(SERAP) of instigating the Nigerian public over issues that had passed integrity test, and court of public opinion on the distribution of COVID-19 palliatives.
A statement issued by the joint body and signed by Olumide Irawo urged SERAP to update itself on the activities of the Ministry of Humanitatian Services, on the distribution of palliatives covered by 21 states, not only in Ogun,Lagos and FCT, rather than seeking court redress.
He says the Ministry inconjunction with relevant agencies carried out a transparent exercise in states covered including the FCT to the excitement of ordinary Nigerians .
Nigerian Integrity Movement praised the Ministry of Humanitatian Affairs Disaster, under Hajia Sadiya Umar-Farouk for carrying out a transparent and generally acceptable program during and after the lockdown.
The Movement says it is not unaware of the large turn out in the FCT,Lagos and Abuja during the lockdown and the attendant relief on ordinary Nigerians during the distribution of the palliatives.
He says the decision of SERAP is needless, in view of the evidence of distribution of palliatives to ordinary Nigerians in the three states, urging them not to dissipate energy on non issue.
Olumi says already,Civil Society Groups like CRW,CALSER and other well meaning Nigerians has expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Ministry in the distribution of palliatives not only in the two states and FCT,but 21 states.
'It is distraction of the good intentions of the handlers of the COVID-19 palliatives, and to create needless panic in the society.' He said
