National Social Investment Programs: Junaid Mohammed's failure, Sadiya Umar-Farouk's success, By Abubakar Yusuf

By Abubakar Yusuf

Dr Junaid Mohammed was former aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo during his stint as Nigerian President between 1999-2007,whose sole responsibility was to handle the failed social investment programs of that administration.

Unfortunately for a highly vocal public figure who was saddled with people oriented program, whe tend to criticise successive goverrment on issues, but could not withstand an assignment similar to his preachings and doctorines. .
Dr Junaid Mohammed a public speaker, unrepentant critics of successive goverrments in Nigeria, was tactically sent on break by President Obasanjo after his failed sojourn to rescue the massess, his preachings against Governments decisions.

Little did Nigerians knew that some public commentators only rely on their volition to gurgitate their personal views, that does not represent the generalty of the massess, but likened to 'Do as I say,but not as I do'.

The recent aspersions of Dr Junaid Mohammed against the robust management of Social Investement Program (SIP), of the present administration frugally managed by the Ministry of Humanitatian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Developement under the leadership of Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk, through a press interview was obviously that of a drown public speaker, who had failed in a given responsibility, during President Obasanjo's administration against what he sternly preach to Nigerians.

Suffice to say from the recent developments and efforts of the new Ministry of Humanitatian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Developement through a transparent management of the existing scheme, has encourage Nigerians who have confidence in the scheme, to embrace the new Batch C of the program.

In less than 3 days over I Million Nigerians applied for a placement of 400,00 unemployment opportunity created by the Ministry, some days later, more than 4.4Million,applied with more still going through the process of registration.

The recent activities of the Minister had added alot of encouragement, that the SIP programs is fully on ground and working seamlessly, from the recent digitization of tradermoni template, to ongoing availement in six states being used as pilot scheme.

No doubt, the school feeding program articulated by the handlers helped the pupils in no small measure before and during the Nationwide lockdown,to mitigate the effects of the situation.

Tradermoni program after it's positive effects on the lives of our petty traders all through 2019,will be redesign to meet the yearnings and aspirations of many traders in Nigeria,so as to serve the noble ideas of palliatives to the massess and petty traders.

This is in addition to an already planned transition program for about 500,000 beneficiaries of N-Power program engaged since 2016,by engaging both the public and private sectors for possible placement depending on the available job opportunities.

How perfect could a program of government works with the provision for transition and trasnparent management of the program.

If successive goverment strides was geared towards such positive and laudable project of SIP, succesfully managed by the Minister,Sadiya Umar-Farouk,the growing and alarming unemployment rates would have been reduced to the barest minimum.

Apart from the transition program of the current N -Power beneficiaries, another 400,000 are expected to come on board to deflect the labour and growing unemployment rates, to give way to gainful engagements.

This is also in addition to efforts of the
current administration to create 774,000 jobs across the 774 local government in Nigeria, with each local government producing 10,000 participants span for three months.

Therefore, the success recorded by the current SIP programs and engagment program of the current administration is far from the outcry of Dr Junaid Mohammed.
