Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa state has been sacked by Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The ruling was sequel to the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) petition who has asked the tribunal to cancel the election because the party and it candidate were wrongly excluded from the exercise.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had declared David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress as the winner, but his election was nullified 24 hours before his inauguration.
Diri, thecandidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was then sworn in as governor of the state.
The apex court based its rulings on the disqualification of APC's Lyon on the premise that Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo, his running mate presented forged certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
