The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has denied that it's embarking on a nationwide tour with a certain Miyetti Allah- an association that claims to represent cattle herders.
In a statement signed by VGN's Commandant General Navy Captain Umar Bakori (rtd), the community-based security group said, it has no relationship with Miyetti Allah.
The statement says, VGN's activities are restricted to helping overcome security challenges, gathering intelligence through its over one million members and assisting sister security agencies overcome security threats around the country.
"We don't help any group to tour the nation. We are not tour guides. We are a serious organisation- peopled by serious-minded Nigerians. We do not discriminate or cause disaffection.
"We preach peace. We love Nigerians, therefore will do everything to protect them. We don't aggravate tension and fault lines. Instead we build bridges of understanding.
"Therefore, the purported tour is not by VGN. We have nothing to do with it. Instead we are busy trying to help resolve other emerging threats in the country."
The group advised Miyetti Allah to be weary of "impostors" who claim to be what they are not.
