The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to invest heavily in Badagry, especially in the tourism sector so as to foster more development in the area.
The governor made the declaration while launching the Maternal and Child Centre on the 23rd Jan. 2021 at the Badagry General Hospital.
In the address of the governor at the Maternal and Child Center (MCC) he said “I and the Commissioner said we will only come to the hospital once it has gone live, once it has been treating patients. And now I can see the testimonies, they have treated 3,000 patients here in less than two months, because I told them we need to test all the facilities and make sure they are working well for our citizens. And as you can see all the children and great babies these facilities we are handing over to you have produced. That is a test to what we are committed to, to make sure our citizens have the best of all the policies we are giving to them”.
“Not only are we recruiting more doctors and nurses but to ensure the environment in which they need to practise this very noble profession is fit and proper. And we want to stop the draining of our doctor movement to South Africa, Uk and other part of the world. This is their home where they need to practise medicine at the highest level. And the Lagos state government and the ministry of health will stop at nothing in ensuring that the health requirement of our citizen is next to nothing” he said.
In like manner, Sanwo-Olu opened a 252 unit housing project at Idale, Badagry which will be affordable for the common man within and outside Badagry. He also commissioned the reconstruction of the road that linked the General Hospital to various communities within the town.
While walking the road that's to be constructed, the governor said “ the construction will be in two phases, and this is the demonstration of our readiness to fulfil our promises to the citizens. It does not matter how far Badagry is from the capital, the city of our development will never be forgotten. We will continue to justify the confidence you reposed in us when you voted us in” he said.
The launching of the Maternal and Child Centre which house 110 bed space was graced by Sanwo-Olu as well as his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, Commisioner Civil Service Commission Hon. Avoseh Dewu Suru, HRM Aholu Fabiyi Jimoh and other dignitaries.
