On behalf of the great youth of Lagos State. We celebrate the life well spent of an elder statemen. Just as a well spent day brings happy sleep, a life well used equally brings a happy death.
As the action Governor of Lagos State from 1979 - 1983, you distinctively excelled in terms of erecting developmental strides and bringing government closer to the people. You planted the seeds of progressive governance in Lagos State.
Indubitably, many outstanding, successful and intelligent youths we have today were fortunate to graduate from your free education scheme during your tenure and beyond.
Your appointment as a federal Minister for works in 1993 was a feet which many considered as a round peg in a round hole. You replicated your outstanding performance in Lagos State at the federal level. You embarked on construction of federal lowcost housing estate across the country. One of which is the Gwarimpa housing estate, the largest single housing estate in West Africa.
Continue to rest in peace. Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande. A legend, builder, progressive, father, national treasure and a nation builder. "We all will die eventually, the goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will linger."
