2023: What I'll do differently as Senator - Legal luminary, Obono-Obla reveals plans, 6-point agenda

A legal luminary and former Chairman, Special
Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Chief Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla has released a 6-point agenda if he wins the contest to occupy the senate seat of of Central Senatorial District of Cross River State by 2023.

The anti-corruption czar which was a former appointee by President Muhammadu Buhari as Special
assistant to the President on Prosecution reeled out some of his plans and agendas, which will do differently from what the norms are in a Facebook post if elected by his people as Senator by 2023.

His words:
"When I am elected senator to represent the Cross River Central District,
I will democratize, declassify and demystify representation. I shall be holding meetings every quarter with people of my district in every local government area that make up my district every quarter of the Year for everybody, not just my political party members."

"I shall democratize and demystify and make transparent the opacity surrounding constituency projects. The legislature is the government branch responsible for lawmaking and exercising oversight of government executive and judiciary branches. Therefore legislators should not dabble into the workings of the executive branch of government by executing constituency projects/ execution of projects should remain the executive preserve of the executive branch of government."

Agenda 1.
"I will sponsor a law to stop the earning of jumbo salary and allowances of members of the National Assembly, which is out of tune with the country's economic reality and the abject and grinding poverty which is the lot of the majority of the Nigerian population."

Agenda 2
"I will sponsor a law on the Federal government's devolution of powers to the States and local government council areas.  States should have the power to create local government councils. The federal government should not shed itself on involvement in land administration, education, electricity generation, health, commerce, agriculture, housing, policing, local governments, and remain a regulator."

Agenda 3
"I will sponsor a law that makes it compulsory for the Federal government to grant students soft loan to study in Tertiary institutions. "

Agenda 4
"I will sponsor a bill on the decolonization of laws rooted in colonialism and subjugation of African people due to European colonialism of the 18th-20th centuries. "

Agenda 5
"I will sponsor a bill on ethnic profiling and discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, etc. "

Agenda 6
"I will be a progressive voice for the marginalized, minority, oppressed, the voiceless, the poor, and the fringe of society."
