The Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State Honourable Lanre Ogunyemi has described as pleasing, the massive response and show of interest in the purchase of nomination forms by aspirants willing to contest in the primary elections aimed at electing councillorship and chairmanship candidates to flag the ship of the party in the 2021 local government polls in the state.
Ogunyemi sees the large quest for nomination forms as an indication of continued public interest in the party.
According to him, the fact that as at the time of this report, close to One Thousand people have picked their nomination forms to jostle for the 57 Chairmanship and 377 Councillorship seats is a testament to the continued grassroots appeal, popularity and acceptance the party enjoys in Lagos State.
He said sales of forms is still ongoing.
“Over the years, our party has remained the party to beat owing to our people-centred policies.“
“As you know, the local government is the closest tier of government to the people and our party is determined to produce credible hands who can further deliver on democracy dividends in these most challenging times”.
“We have also deliberately encouraged more youth, women and people living with disabilities to come on board by giving special consideration to them in our guidelines”, Ogunyemi concluded.
