The Alarming Security Situation in Nigeria, By Independent Researchers at NACT-PVS

By NACT-PVS

Nigeria’s security situation is alarming. This is 2021. The security situation in Nigeria is alarming just reading these news headlines. And these are just a few to mention. The failure of past leaders in Nigeria is the reason why insecurity is so prevalent in present-day Nigeria. The future is in the hands of the young, talented and experienced. These ones need to be educated to be able to see insecurity, challenge and stop it. If the solution to Nigeria’s insecurity challenges is left to the leaders of Nigeria, then there will be no solution. Insecurity affects everyone, not just the wealthy few. So, these individuals should give the opportunity for new talent to thrive. Times change, the world is modernising and quite frankly speaking, so should Nigeria.

"The Nigerian minister of defence recently enjoined Nigerians to take up arms to defend themselves against marauding bandits in their communities. The minister’s statement aligns with the grim reality that Nigeria has a serious internal security problem—and nobody knows exactly how to solve it."

Nigeria is confronted by multiple security challenges, notably the resilient Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in the north east, long-running discontent and militancy in the Niger Delta, increasing violence between herders and farming communities spreading from the central belt southward, and separatist Biafra agitation in the Igbo south east. Violence, significantly by the Boko Haram insurgency, has displaced over two million people, resulting to uncontrollable humanitarian problems, and with this is the increased of civilian vigilante self-defence groups with new look into security structures, all of these are challenging for the modern day Nigeria.
