Report according to TheCable claimed President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a proposed zoning formula for the national offices of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The president approved of the zoning formula in a document he signed on March 1.
Interestingly, in the document, Abdullahi Adamu, senator representing Nasarawa west, is proposed as the APC national chairman.
Faruk Aliyu Adamu, former member of the house of representatives, is proposed as deputy national chairman (north), while Ken Nnamani, former senate president, is named for the position of deputy national chairman (south).
John Akpanudoedehe, current national secretary of the APC caretaker committee, is proposed as the substantive national secretary.
Going by this formula, the proposed candidates for the national working committee (NWC) will not have opponents at the national elective convention of the party scheduled for March 26.
Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo, was picked as APC national chairman in 2018 under similar circumstances. He was unchallenged.
The ruling party’s constitution provides for consensus candidates.
The other NWC positions were left open — an indication that they will be contested for by aspirants at the convention.
