After Announcing that 10 presidential aspirants have been dropped ahead of the primary, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that the national leader, Bola Tinubu, was not among those disqualified ahead the exercise next week.
APC said that Tinubu was among the 13 aspirants vying for it’s ticket that were cleared by the screening committee after concluding it’s two-day exercise in Abuja.
The party said that the the national leader was too fit and ready to be disqualified from vying for APC presidential ticket and prevented from leading it’s other candidates for next year’s election.
Part of the screening outcome was revealed exclusively to The Guild by a member of the committee who also appended his signature on the report presented to APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Friday.
When The Guild asked him on other aspirants, the screening committee member declined and stressed that revealing more details of the documents could put lives of other six members at risk.
According to him, I can only tell you that Asiwaju’s name is not among those that were considered not worthy to contest for the party’s presidential ticket beginning from next week Monday in Abuja.
The committee member noted that the other names would be released before the primary on 6th of June, to allow them appeal decision of the screening committee.
The source’s disclosure came hours after the screening committee chairman, John Oyegun, announced that 10 aspirants has been dropped while 13 other names were presented before the NWC as viable aspirants for the exercise scheduled for next Monday.
As gathered, the 10 aspirants removed from the list of contenders to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, it was learnt, were those said to be battling with court cases and others across the country.
Aside from the cases hanging on the aspirants’ necks, some were also said to have been dropped from the race considering their age and ability to withstand the pressure that may arise during the election next year.
The committee chairman, however, declined to reveal identities of aspirants that were disqualified from contesting during the three-day APC primary in the country’s capital.
