MATAN launches Integrated Market-Traders Revenue Management System, IRMS in 774 LG

The Market Traders Association of Nigeria, MATAN is set to launch the much awaited Integrated Market-traders Revenue Management System, IRMS in all the 774 local Governments in Nigeria. 

According to the Chairman of the MATAN-project, Ambassador Olakunle Johnson, the new unified consolidated revenue system is designed to put an end to multiple taxation and extortion of traders nationwide. He said that the idea was conceived though Market-trader's stakeholders' resolutions against multiple taxation and extortion of traders in seven hundred and seventy-four Local Governments in Nigeria. 

Ambassador Johnson, who also doubles as the Southwest leader of MATAN, disclosed that the new revenue regime, which will be formally launched in Ibadan, Southwest Nigeria, on the 22nd September 2022, is predicated on the need to harmonize members revenue to governments remittance system, such as Personal Income Tax, (PIT), and harness inherent opportunities of the market places. 

Mr. Kunle said the unified revenue system, Integrated Market-traders Revenue Management System is for all retail markets across the nation,  and approved by the Federal Government through the Joint Tax Board, JTB in collaboration with the Market Traders Association of Nigeria, MATAN and other stakeholders. 

"The project, when fully become operational will benefits both government at all level, Stakeholders and all traders" , he said. 

The benefits of the scheme includes; a more secured market places for traders and their goods, none-interest loans for small and medium sized enterprises, digitization of data of traders, insurance and many more. 

Prominent Nigerians who are expected at the coronation and the launch includes; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Mr. Peter Obi and other presidential candidates of all political parties in Nigeria'S 2023 election.
