Prince Wale Adesina, the 2023 Campaign Director, Publicity, Planning, and Mobilization of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Badagry Federal Constituency, has said the crisis rocking the opposition, the People's Democratic Party, PDP, has made it not have the House of Representatives candidate to fly its flag in the coming election scheduled to hold on February 25, 2023.
Adesina made the declaration on Saturday, January 29, 2023, while addressing a session of the media in response to fake news peddled that some leaders of the APC have defected to the PDP.
Recall that there were social media reports that some leaders of the APC in certain wards defected to the opposition party in support of its governorship candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor. The report, by APC campaign spokeswoman Adesina, has been debunked and described as fake.
On why he said the PDP has no candidate to contest against the APC, the former local government official said the opposition has already been engulfed in a series of crises. He referenced a report that a House of Representatives aspirant of the PDP is already at the Supreme Court to challenge the alleged illegal substitution of his candidacy by the party.
Adesina said that, aside from the local internal wrangling within the party in Badagry Local Government, the party at the state and national levels is also engulfed in many crises.
"We only know the PDP goes after Atiku's money every four years and backs off immediately the money is in their account."
"Why do we need to fear a party that eats from what falls from the APC table in Badagry?"
"The present PDP structure in Lagos and Nigeria is shaking." Nothing for them: "Even corruption has shattered the executive council of the party at the national level."
"You recall that Governor Wike of Rivers, together with four other governors, formed an alliance battling the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and its national chairman, Iyorcha Ayu, because of corruption; hitherto in Lagos, the faction of Bode George is fighting the governorship candidate, JANDOR."
"These and other internal wranglings have weakened the structure of the party at the center, which has left the party shattered."
Things have already fallen apart for the party. Talk about members of the APC decamping to the PDP in Badagry is nothing but a fallacy.
"As far as we are concerned, our party, the APC, is the winning party in Badagry, Lagos State, and Nigeria." "We will deliver all our candidates, from the state assembly to the president, to our party," Adesina said.
He urged all Badagrians to join hands and vote massively for APC in the coming general elections in order to enjoy more development.
