The ancient city of Badagry was agog on Friday, February 17, 2023, when the Independent Campaign Council of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (ICC ABAT-BOS) officially inaugurated the council ahead of the general election.
The ICC ABAT-BOS is a grassroots campaign group led by Hon Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, a four-time member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituency I, to ensure victory for Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, and all party candidates in the upcoming elections.
According to a statement issued by the campaign council's Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Sesi Pot-Balogun, the campaign council demonstrated its ability to deliver on inauguration day, as members of the party and other non-partisan groups stormed the event.
The Statement in part:
"It was a massive atmosphere charged with political presence of blush of boys, giggle of girls, bevy of ladies, band of men and gaggle of women."
"Traditional musicians, dancers, performing artistes, traditional choreographers all sparked the ambience."
"Traditional rulers, religious bodies, trade associations, civil societies and men of the fourth realm of the estate were all presence."
"Top political dignitaries, superstars in the Nollywood industries, top civil Servants all added colouration and glamour to the event."
"Gracing the occasion were the Chairman of Lagos State Independent Campaign Council, Cardinal James Odumbaku ( Baba Eto) and the Director-General(DG) of the State ICC, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, who also doubles as the Chief of State to the Governor."
"In his speech, the DG, expressed his absolute satisfaction in the turnout at the event. He consequently showered encomiums on the DG of Badagry ABAT-BOS ICC, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode for his sacrifice towards the party and assured that he will definitely be a vital key player in the next administration. "
" His speech, however, reached its crescendo, greeted with standing ovation when he declared Badagry as Second Country of Asiwaju. " By the power conferred on me as the Director-General of the Lagos State ICC, I hereby declare Badagry as the Second country of Asiwaju, after Alimosho. The turnout here today was too massive not to be so disclosed"*, Tayo Ayinde said."
" Speaking further, Buffalo, as the DG is fondly called, made another declaration : " Secondly, I also declare Badagry as the Local Government of Governor Sanwo-Olu ""
"Corroborating the position of the DG, the Chairman of the Lagos State ICC, Cardinal Odumbaku, said Badagry has restored her lost glory, charging Hon. Layode to serve as rallying point by ensuring he patiently embraces everyone."
"The inauguration got to its apogee when fleet of cars and bus was commissioned."
"The ICC, through the Director General, Hon. Layode Ibrahim promised to deliver 40,000 votes across the Federation. Already, there has been a formidable structure instituted to achieve the target votes across the LGAs, wards, zones and polling units."
