The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Granite and Marble, an indigenous mining company that has been making Nigeria, Chief Hon. Ayom Moses Chiahemba has celebrated the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia at a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, June 3rd, 2023 organised in his honour at St. Winifred's Catholic Church, Ihugh, Vandeikya, Benue State.
Ayom said God has blessed Benue State with a Governor that is already working towards transforming the state so that everyone will feel the impact significantly.
He said that the backbone of any improvement of governance, its development as well as its protection from any form of wastage or excessiveness, is a mechanism to place laws under the microscope of revision and modernization until they resonate in tune with the methodological development and new administrative technologies which Gov. Alia is has put in place.
He said corruption is the enemy of development, and of good governance. That Gov. Alia will do his best to curb it.
Both the government and the people at large must come together to achieve this objective so that Gov. Alia will deliver on his promises.
According to him, Benue people had lost trust in governance because of abysmal and amorphous governance that had occurred. Getting back that trust, instilling a sense of hope and belief that good governance and development would be back on track should be a top priority of Gov. Alia.
In his usual way of giving philanthropic services and elevating the human race, he donated over N2m to the church and made other donations of N2.5m making a total of N4.5m.
Chief Ayom was a frontline contender for the presidency in 2023. As a result of his philanthropic services, in Dec. 2021, His Royal Highness, Igwe Friday Ozochi (Ozochimere Exe 1) and some leaders drawn from the South-east and South-South geo-political Zones conffered on Ayom the Chieftaincy title of Ozo Ndi Igbo 1 of Nigeria.
