2023: How President Tinubu Won Clearly And Squarely

By Abubakar Yusuf

There was no denial or controversy about the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential race given the outcome of the results in all the six geopolitical zones including the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.

From the results declared, the strong hold of all the candidates including the four major ones , the APC, PDP, LP and NNPP represented the feelings of the people of Nigeria.

President Tinubu was declared winner for his all inclusive and non sectional democratic practices over the decades, away from other three runners up who all operated on sectional sphere.

The President who had built his political tentacles across the region spanned for decades resisted all odds during the electioneering campaigns to emerge not only the president of the country, but the presidential candidate of the party , APC
a contest that was even tougher than the main election held in February, 2023.

Without mincing words, the election results from states like Lagos state,Kano state and all over the south -east and part of the south- south including the FCT, was an indicator that it was the best elections in recent times.

In the south west where the president emanated from, his ancestral home of Osun and Lagos state as abode was a fight of the titan that was almost cut the APC leadership in the areas unaware.

The take home from the 2023 presidential election was a sectional race away from the landslide victory of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It is normal to exhaust the legal avenues provided for aggrieved contestants to push home the victory or otherwise of the election, but it is not to also an opportunity to legalize the technicalities and used it as an avenue to orchestrate uneasy calm in the country.

As far as the 2023 general elections was concerned, whether re-conducted for ten times, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a man to beat anytime, anyday, considering the keen contest of the last exercise and his popularity.

Elections cannot be based on assumption or expectations, but calculation and popularity, so whether accepted or not , President Tinubu is the most popular having polled the highest number of votes in the last elections and was declared winner according to the constitution of Nigeria.

Statistically, the PDP who was the main opposition and challenger of the ruling APC in the last election, went into the exercise dilapidated and decapitated with alot of in house crises having lost five sitting governors , who had attracted other governors and top members of the party to the ruling party, the APC.

The Labour Party that was portrayed as a national movement was later reduced to regional party with alot of religious politics underneath, while the NNPP was only interested in taken over power from Kano only, for political vendetta.

The misfortunes of the three other opposition parties was harnessed by the leadership of APC under the dexterity and political manouvre of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's political empire, fall out from the confessions of the G5.

No doubt, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio admonished the G5 to metamorphosed into G7 with a view to providing a soft landing for APC in 2027, an indication that campaigns for 2027 was already a done deal.

Before now, President Tinubu had displayed genuine nationalist traits without pretences as a veritable tool for national leadership as far back as two decades ago as former Senator, former Lagos state Governor.

He consolidated by installing people's choice as successors in Lagos, across south- west and some part of the country, that credentials played out as his political resume.

With his victory, what is needed now in the country is to collaborate all sections of the country and not shopping for technicalities to upturn the election results already won incontrovertibly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigerians are beginning to see the positive side of present administration, with policies and programs being put in place.

For those Nigerians wishing and hoping for another election or rerun will be doing a great disservice to the country, the outcome cannot not be perfect , but the last election was almost perfect and near perfect.

Nigeria must move forward to ensure a political, economic and social movements beyond motion without movement.
